A Children's book
Memories return
The thin book you must open
To find what still is there
A glimpse of what is waiting
Memories of four wooden chairs
The smell of Saturday morning.
Pancakes, syrup and peanut butter
You throw on a cozy robe
Memory fades, you shudder
The sunlight through the window
Sunbeam on the table
A white-haired glow of kindness
A fairy from a fable
The floating gold of glitter
Dancing through the air
All turned grey dust
The hands that spin unfair
The sound of laughter fading
Singing so tender and so mild
last page, thin book for a child
