Quarantine Procrastinating and I am Ok with that!
I will start focusing on exercising more...I will really dedicate time to duolingo....I will read more...I will start reaching out to old friends.....I will teach myself a new skill....I am going to start my Youtube Channel. All of these statements could be heard around the world at the start of quarantine. I was definitely one of those people. I had high hopes of exercising more, reading more, eating better, watching Netflix less and creating new projects. Well here I am day 60 of quarantine...maybe less. (SN: I live in one of the states that were the last to receive stay at home orders.) Out of all the items I had on my quarantine list only one out of the five I can say I have truly dedicated myself on improving. So I am definitely patting myself on the back but this story isn't to share my weak 1/5 success story. lol. This story is to share the idea that it is okay to feel hopeless during these times, it is okay not to be motivated, it is okay that Netflix and Hulu have received a lot more of your attention. We are living in a new normal (SN: Maybe if the tv show new normal was released during quarantine it would have been more of a success. The world will never know lol) that is definitely taking some time to adjust to and the mystery of when will things get back to normal are definitely the thought luring in everyone's mind. During these times I am not challenging you to reinvent yourself into the person that you have always wanted to be I am challenging you stay hopeful, stay positive and be grateful of the blessings that you have (family, job, quarantine bae, pets, coworkers, etc.) it may be hard to believe right now but we will get through this and we will come out stronger than ever! Until then, take pride in the little accomplishments that you may have managed during your quarantine time. If you managed to go on one walk during quarantine give yourself a pat on the back because something is better than nothing. I am here for the small success stories.

Are We Prepared For The Next Pandemic? Will We Learn Anything After COVID-19?
Obviously, at the origin of the current pandemic is a new virus for science that we do not know how to deal with. But it also adds that, at the end of January, we were unable to understand the information available and foresee that an uncertain future was coming. We fell into an excess of confidence.

"It's Just A Perfect Day"
I keep thinking back to that song by Lou Reid "Perfect Day". And all the lovely things I do with my husband on a daily basis. Not "every" day is perfect, but a majority are definitely note worthy. We spend time together; real time. I think that is what is missing in this fast paced world. Time spent together where it means something. REAL time. Talking, reading, listening to music, or just being in the same place with the person or people you love.

Who Are The Stockpilers?
Though the world has changed rapidly in the last few months, there is another factor that has changed just as swiftly — our ability to adapt to our new lifestyles and hunker down in our homes. In order to do that, people need to be sufficiently stocked and prepared. But some of us have gone to the extreme of stockpiling and hoarding, to the extend that photos of empty shelves are circulating across social media. Supermarkets are clamping down with restrictions on how many units of an item consumers can buy in one sitting.

Insomnia
Rain. Thunder. Lightning so bright it looks like the sun is out, but it only lasts a second each time. The thunder reminds me of the growling sound my stomach is currently making. It's one o'clock in the morning. I cannot sleep. An ambulance passes by making my decision to give up trying to sleep. Insomnia is the worst. I remember when I was a child thunder storms were so soothing that I fell asleep in seconds. Now I find myself two weeks into being thirty, irritated at the storm and my mind. It always wants to wander the most when I have a dire need for sleep. I have to wake up in a few hours to get ready for work. Thank goodness it's our slow season. I'm not sure I have the strength to lift large, heavy car parts for eight hours with no sleep. Did I mention that I need sleep? "SLEEP!" I shout. "SLEEP! FOR THE LOVE OF A HIGHER POWER, CAN I PLEASE SLEEP?!" There's silence as I scan my dark room trying to adjust my eyes; thunder and lightning yell again. I guess that's a no.

The Home Healthcare System is Broken
The personal care Health system is so broken, and sometimes I wonder if it can be fixed. These people coming to your house, and they act like they are doing you a favor, but what caregivers fail to realize it Is they are gaining paid to perform a service. These people are coming whenever they feel like it and leave whatever they want to. It's they did that a typical job they would be fired immediately. As a client, I have to turn everyday people into personal care assistants. Most of the time, I have to direct my care to a stranger I have never met before; we have to learn to each other on the fly. There is this added worry if their personality Will meshes well with mine. I am an avid believer that you know necessarily have don't like the person you are working with if it Is a temporary situation. For example, if somebody is picking up a shift to fill in, then you can put aside the differences to get done with needs to be done. If you are spending a lot of days and hours with one person, then you have to find a personality that can gel with yours. You don't want a staff that treats you like you work for them. Like they can Control everything you do. You don't want somebody that's going to tried to Control your Financial well-being. There are so many things to consider when assessing a personal care aide. There are so many pitfalls to this whole system. You don't want to get too close, because most PCA's don't stick around very long. As you are ready to put down your guard with some of them, it seems those are the ones who are prepared to steal from you.

Why you need to follow social distancing
Social distancing these last few months have sucked. I hate not being able to see my best friend, my family, or even clients at work. I hate talking to people through doors or FaceTime. I hate wearing a mask everywhere, and I hate not being able to go to the grocery store every time I remember something small that I need. But guess what? I do it.
