Why Are All Writing Achievements Not Created Equal?
I get the most enjoyment from writing books that help people and solve a problem
During the first three months of 2026, I can honestly say that I've completed several writing projects that I'm proud of, yet I've noticed that all achievements are really not created equal.
As much as I enjoy writing poetry and publishing short fiction stories (like I've been doing a lot of lately), I still get the most enjoyment from writing books that can help people solve a problem.
I live my life by the philosophy that sooner or later we all need a helping hand with something or the other.
To me, there's nothing better than writing self help books and resource guides that focus on a particular need.
If I can write something of value, that helps someone solve a particular problem or challenge, this is the best form of motivation for me.
That's probably why I'm so pleased about my latest release on Amazon.

I'm thrilled that I finally took the time to put together this patient resource guide for new denture wearers.
I know for a fact that it will be able to help those who read it, even if it does nothing but help make them aware of what questions and concerns they should take to their dentist.
This is a publication I truly feel proud to have written, even more than the other resource publication I wrote about the important topic of assisted living.
Of course the issue of senior housing and What to Do About Mom and Dad is a worthwhile topic that I can be equally proud of having written about. But this particular book is based on research, and speculation, besides my insight and point of view.
But Open Wide goes beyond that. Instead, I was able to provide first-hand information and details about a process that I personally experienced for myself.
The fact that I documented everything in real-time, just as it was happening to me, adds an extra layer of credibility to the book. That is what makes it the perfect patient resource guide for new denture wearers, because it was actually written by a denture wearer during the period of newness.
More than anything, I'm excited to see if I can finally score a significant amount of Amazon reviews for my book. I'm anxious to discover whether or not readers truly find the information to be as beneficial as I suspect.
Final Thoughts
Among the other writing achievements that I have to be proud of so far in 2026, is the release of my short romance story: Back from the Other Side; inspired by the recent anti-ICE raids in my city of residence.
I'm also pleased as punch to have won a Runner Up spot in a Vocal writing challenge for my story: Failing at Putting an End to Sex for Sale on the Street.
There's no denying that I've been creatively busy during this first quarter of the year, and it's paid off.
Besides publishing stories that are merely meant to entertain the reader, I've been preoccupied with more serious topics that I find myself passionate about writing.
Remembering that all writing achievements aren't created equal has prompted me to pay closer attention to the issues I choose to focus my time and attention on.
As I continue producing content that I thoroughly enjoy creating, I plan to also continue covering the type of topics and subject matter that I can be super proud to publish.
Thanks for reading.
