Yesterday Was Easter

Water ceremony, then family feast, including a friend, who is my sister

Author's Note: We hoped to find a place for all 16 people attending, but it wasn't to be. Our initial plan was to go to their building site and have the event at a large picnic table. The snow interfered with that plan.

So, at the last minute, we called around. Nothing open until 6:30, which was too late for the young families to get together. It would be fast approaching bedtime for the babies.

We decided to have everyone come to our house, which has plenty of space for us, but it is a stretch when bringing in some youngsters who need space to run and play, and outdoors is mostly out of the question.

My daughter forgot the 100 plastic eggs she filled with candy and money. Another weekend when at the build site she said. “That way there will be no snow for them to track in and out.”

After hearing that, I thought about how I too thought that would happen, and fogot to say something. That is what happens when you are not on Easter bunny duty anymore.

Easter

It came and went

We spent

time with my daughter,

son-in-law, and their family

One little, two little granddaughter

not little anymore, but a multifamily

event. One came with three children,

one with one. We were missing another one

with two. They have six grandchildren

making me a great-grandmother. I won.

Then we have those guys

who have no family yet. The boys

who are young yet, but not at home

Three to be exact. One who likes to roam

One who brought his girl, and why

She didn't eat or speak

Oh, so shy. We celebrated my

grandson's one year of sobriety this week.

We had two grands still with the folks

The 12-year-old loves to tell jokes

The 11-year-old is in everyone's conversation

Their parents are anxious for a vacation.

We played cards. Tick to be exact

Sister Mary and my daughter, the competitive ones

Some of us have little to no tact

Certain words were spoken when sister won

Family fun

In the sun

The sun will be out today

Time to go and play!
