Why Are We Losing Our Softness?

People are coming in our path

We are losing our softness,

we are getting stressed, irritated.

for we feel attacked, unhappy

So, I will not go very far,

I will talk about my small family.

I am very productive,

call it coping,

for being raised without privileges,

I enjoy my work:

reading, writing, painting.

I am studying,

my little son comes

and asks me to tell him

the story of 'Goldilocks'.

I do.

My little daughter is supposed to sleep,

but as I sit down to write,

after a long day of chores,

she comes and says,

there is a silverfish,

she is sacred.

I send her back,

comforting, asking to be brave.

I am studying near the window,

spouse switches on the AC,

the motor whirrs,

and the noise is a nuisance.

He comes from a poor family,

why such dependency on Ac,

since March baffles me.

It is my family, love is there,

still, they interrupt me.

I cannot imagine

working for someone

who would pull my strings

and make me dance to their tune.

People, let us not throw thorns,

in each other’s paths,

we will only end up

with bigger thorns in ours.

Exactly what I needed to read, thank you. I lash out so often, even if just in my head. And I have to remember it’s not me. Have to get back to the softness. Great job! 👏
