Yesterday, it was a year complete
of being a Vocal+ member.
We all know, it’s not lucrative,
Other may be entering challenges,
and winning.
I have entered a couple of contests,
never won any,
not even an honorable mention.
I thought, by the end of the year,
I would not subscribe again.
But then I saw the consequences,
it was already sad,
it would feel even sadder.
So, without overthinking,
I looked to upgrade again.
It was a discount, $49 for a year.
No big deal,
two times pizza, that’s it.
At least it will keep
my writing practice alive.
They have given
Top Story 14 times,
leaderboard mention twice.
So here I am,
a Vocal+ member again,
after missing it,
for a few hours.

Lap Cat
My nose is dripping, and Delia is tracing her fingers through my hair. Her husband is shirtless by the microwave, heating up leftovers from New Year's Eve. In 60 seconds, I'll be shoving mouthfuls of risotto between my quivering lips like a child and picking at semi-stale dinner rolls. Then, I'll pass my plate to one of their three Tabby cats (whom I can never tell apart) and let him/her/them (?) lick it clean.

I have never subscribed to become a Vocal+ member. I cannot afford it. But when I became Creator of the Year 2023, they gifted me a free year of Vocal+ so that was nice hehehe. So happy you renewed your subscription! Also, since you always look forward to something new from me, I have a new story hehehe
I try not to get too disappointed when I don't win, especially when I don't understand some of the poems or they don't speak to me.
The pros far outweigh the cons, for me. Half the time, I forget to join the challenges.
I've been contemplating joining Vocal+ also. I do wish I could join the challenges as the prompts inspire me to write. But it's hard to justify the cost for me with how in debt I already am 😪 I'm glad you got a discount and I look forward to reading more of your writing!
