Tornado Watch
conditions favorable
Cold snap coming, set to collide
right smack into the warm front,
possibly spawning tornadoes
cyclones
twisters,
snapping treetops like matchsticks,
downing power lines,
blocking roads,
wreaking havoc.
I know this storm,
birthed it myself,
named it,
sacrificed almost
everything,
(INSUFFICIENT)
When poison water drowns
and wind tears through towns
there’s a choice:
weather or shelter.
The rage can stay out there,
pulling roofs off houses,
throwing trucks like tantrums.
When it exhausts itself,
destruction overachieved,
it simply leaves,
like it
(was never there)
too ashamed
to face
deliberate damage dealt delightfully,
proud
in the moment, leaving a wake:
broken things and garbage,
detritus to push aside
while complaining about suffering.

‘destruction overachieved’ Aptly describes going above and beyond harmful intentions. Nicely done! Weather wise, it’s been super windy here the past 3 days in OH. more on than off. I was at Walmart yesterday and saw the wind dismantle a Girl Scout’s cookie display. It was kinda funny but I felt bad for wanting to laugh and helped pick up some of the stuff. Lol.
