Tomorrow and Tomorrow

and tomorrow (Caddy smells like trees)

Is there anything more ridiculous

than a calendar? At least clocks

are round, but they mock

us with their ticks while

the rectangle on the wall

flutters months in the wake

of electric fans. The sun doesn’t bother

with them, moon keeps

her own time. Oceans and rivers

don’t follow schedules, and

you have to kill a tree

to see how it lived—

leaves and wood tell different stories.

May as well have been a Compson,

signifying nothing.

🌼 You have identified one of the greatest mocking paradoxes of all time. Just as the clock ticks, we tick off the days. 🌼 The enargia of the calendar fluttering in the wake of electric fans really allowed me to visualize the scene. It made me connect emotionally with how quickly time flies and how heavy our responsibilities can be. I loved this! 🤗🌼

    Compson. Is that a brand?

Wow! Such a fine meditation and sweeping metaphor.
