The Lover's Secrets
What you'll carry when told.
The face of an angel covers thee
For you were born in the bowels of despair
Often wondering why it was you chose me
Then tore apart everything that was there
---
Already, I was babtized by fire
That was that draw, was it not
The face of the angel you wore, was that of a liar
Only looking for someone to deal with things not forgot
---
Owned the world we did, for a while
And what a day in the sun it was, as people watched
You had it all from the beginning of that first mile
But the decadence you pulled me to left our day in the sun botched
---
Truths shared in the midst of those perfect moments in time
Sold my soul when I kept them for you
Lost in your eyes as you revealed your karmic crime
But for you, there was nothing I wouldn't do
---
The price I paid
Was that debt of the dead
For they left their hands all over what they made
As you admitted your sins, the truths rattled in my head
---
Never could it be something that is solved
You knew too much for such a young aged soul
Even as my committment to other things desolved
I realized then, what was your ultimate goal
---
For it was the evils of the past that haunted you to insane
All that you saw and could not forget
So, it became something that for which you formed another name
And, I became your savior and your recreational outlet
---
Some things, they are not meant to be
Too many things rattling around in thy head
Friends took the place of you, don't you see
Taking away that pain you carried that was caused by the dead
---
To let go impossible, and yet you should
Do not suffer the pains of yesteryear for to long
Change your ways, would you if you could
Hopefully before it catches you, your swan song
---
Vengence was yours, but at what price
Your soul stained forever
Your pain became your vice
And always will I remember our time together
---
Find peace if you can
Let go of those anchors holding you back
Remember, that not all are that evil kind of man
And perhaps you can finally find the right track
---
The secrets will die, someday
Your unburdened soul can be free
Of them I will never say
And in the next world I hope you'll find me

I like how supportive you are to a point, and then, "Nope. I don't want you in the afterlife!" That's certainly fair enough. Nicely expressed! 💜
