One look and one word sealed the deal.

It’s engraved in my blood,

that first look, when my eyes

hit you like lightning,

knocking your cue away from your body.

I knew.

The next night, on the sidewalk,

on the corner after the concert,

you read my Raveling,

a meditation on Melanthe

and Penelope,

lifted your eyes into electricity,

your lips lifting “Yeats” to my ears.

I knew.

The world almost bearable with you

beside me, inside me.
