Jesus, What Did We Do To You?

(lyric)

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished about 5 hours ago 1 min read

Verse 1

I saw Jesus in a dream last night

He was limping as he slowly came to me

There was blood trailing behind his steps

And the stakes in his feet were plain to see

His hands were outstretched and reaching out with love

And his eyes were full of kindness despite the pain

Every step he took was heavy with truth

Yet he kept walking toward me anyway

Verse 2

I felt the cost of every move he made

And the burden that his mortal body knew

There was no anger in the way he looked at me

Only a steady love that always carried through

He kept going though his body shook with pain

And called my name out pure and clear

I understood then what he carried for us all

And the truth of it was almost too hard to bear

Chorus

Oh Jesus, what did we do to you?

How did you bear that weight and still choose love

Oh Jesus, what did we do to you

And still you showed that your love was strong enough

Oh Jesus, what did we do to you?

What did we do to you?

Verse 3

I knew then why he walked toward me

And the price he paid for love we never earned

He stood bleeding yet he offered me his hands

As if nothing in my heart could make him turn

The weight he carried should have been mine to bear

Yet he held me with a mercy so deep and true

And I felt the sorrow of what we all had done

And the grace and love that still came shining through

Chorus

Oh Jesus, what did we do to you?

How did you bear that weight and still choose love

Oh Jesus, what did we do to you

And still you showed that your love was strong enough

Oh Jesus, what did we do to you?

What did we do to you?
