What Comes Back After Addiction?
George Eliot: "It is never too late to be what you might have been." — Suburban Tourist
-
The time spent — nay wasted — won't come back
Neither the energy — the life that was s w allowed up.
Can anything really come back after addiction?
Can it?

Dignity.
After being trampled and sullied
can be gained.
-
Self-esteem
can be mended
after peeling the flattened epidermis and reapplying it.
Shame, Shame (go away) may come back
at three a.m.
Tuesdays
mid-autumn afternoons.
-
I've seen the needle, the damage done, and it was in everyone.
I've seen the flesh, torrid and exploited—a little in everyone.
-
Vices all different, but disease the same.
-
Addiction is de ceptive, in sidious,
patient.
-
Re covery is finite.

A sense of be longing
A re newed sense of self
comes back
from the brink
of every misstep and plunge.
-
When you step back
from the edge.

Well done, and uplifting in its way
Vividly portrayed & so true! Each & every one of us has struggles. I love the quote: "It is never too late to be what you might have been." ✅
