Falling Between the Cracks

A poem and a song

By Rasma RaistersPublished about 3 hours ago 1 min read

So very often,

things we wish for,

things we want to get done,

lie forgotten –

having fallen between the cracks.

*

As a new spring is upon us

and once again we go dancing,

along with the spring breezes,

we must remember to bring with us,

the special memories of past springs

and never let these memories fall between the cracks.

*

But for everything that doesn’t get done,

for every heart broken,

for all those lonely hearts,

left bleeding by the side of the road,

often a newly sprung sprig

or even a wildflower –

sprouts up from between the cracks.

*

They sprout to remind us,

that we must never despair,

for even when things seem so unfair,

still something beautiful springs up before us

and there is always hope –

shining from between the cracks.

*

Someday when life comes to an end,

there’ll be our friends and lost loves,

reaching out to you for a hand to hold,

embracing you into a new life

and as you leave this one behind –

a path of wildflowers springing up between the cracks you’ll leave behind.
