Depression and Voices

One pill twice a day the voices are still

Depression And Voices In My Head

Whispering voices in my head

they press down

never stop

I try to talk

words stick like mud

Walls closing in

I feel smaller

the sky is far

it is not mine

I move through the day

smiling feels fake

every step is heavy

like water dragging me down

I reach for something

anything

it slips

laughter feels false

Night comes

voices grow louder

they tell me I am nothing

that nothing will change

I am alone

I lie awake

listening

counting shadows

fearing feelings

Sleep comes slow

voices stay

dreams twist

show only me

all I am not

Morning comes

gray and empty

I rise

like a ghost

moving through a world

that feels far away

Voices wait

patient

certain

chains I cannot break

The Doctor gives me a pill

suddenly the voices are still.

This is a great poem that describes Depression and maybe even Schizophrenia or maybe even schizoaffective disorder. One needs only to listen to one to understand what is going on with whomever.

The voices never seem to stop sometimes. Great description of what it's like to fight that battle inside every day.

The ending, with the pill finally bringing quiet carries so much weight. Great work.

  • Excellent of a mental issue. This is calming and smooth to the soul.
