Can I Say This Plainly Enough?

You Left My Heart Tangled Up In Chains.

For years, you left me watching the door,

Yearning for you to walk through it,

Once more.

Now, time has passed,

And here you are,

Begging for love,

And one last chance.

You left me,

At a time when I was brutally broken,

Ripping my heart out of my chest,

At a time when I needed you most.

You took the only light I had left,

When all I wanted was for you to admit that,

You loved me.

And, now;

Time has passed,

You know I am married now,

What?

Did you expect that I'd still be single 27 years later?

You couldn't even say your name when I saw you last,

Even though you knew that I knew it was you.

You have no idea of the pain I have been through,

Since you left,

All I can tell you is that you left a hole in my heart,

And left me shrouded in loneliness, pain, and tears;

Left me coping with some terrifying things, by myself,

At a time when I needed your support.

In that shop;

You stared into my eyes,

Like, there was something you wanted to say,

But still you couldn't muster the words to say it,

Or come to my door, and show you still care.

It's like you can't accept that I am happy,

You are avoiding my friendship because you are afraid,

Still wrapped in my past,

A time in which I don't live anymore.

Can I say this plainly enough?

Our friendship is broken because,

You left my heart tangled up in chains.
