Meet Mrs. Wattles

A Knitted Koala on a Grand Adventure

By Kristen BarenthalerPublished about 5 hours ago 3 min read

After traveling thousands of miles across oceans, continents, and time zones, a very special little traveler has finally arrived in the Boston area. Her name is Mrs. Wattles, and though she may be small, knitted, and delightfully soft, she carries with her a world of curiosity, courage, and cozy charm. Today, we’re thrilled to introduce her to her new home and to you.

A Cozy Life in Australia

Before her journey, Mrs. Wattles lived a peaceful life in Australia, nestled among eucalyptus‑scented breezes and warm sunshine. As a knitted koala, she enjoyed the simple pleasures of her homeland: lounging in the shade of gum trees, nibbling on eucalyptus leaves, and watching the bright parrots flit overhead. Her days were filled with gentle routines: reading picture books, sipping tea, and taking long, dreamy naps in soft patches of sunlight.

But even in her cozy corner of Australia, Mrs. Wattles felt a tug of adventure. She loved her home dearly, yet she often wondered what lay beyond the horizon. What did snow feel like? What did autumn leaves look like up close? What kinds of stories were waiting in faraway places? With each passing day, her little knitted heart grew more certain that it was time to explore the world.

A Journey Across the Globe

When the moment finally came, Mrs. Wattles packed her tiny suitcase with great care. Inside went her favorite picture book, a warm scarf (just in case), and a tiny passport filled with hope. She hugged her friends goodbye, promising to send postcards from every new place she visited.

The journey from Australia to the United States was long, but Mrs. Wattles approached it with her signature blend of bravery and wonder. She gazed out airplane windows at endless clouds, imagining them as fluffy white forests. She listened to the hum of the engines like a lullaby. And when she finally touched down in the Boston area, she felt a flutter of excitement. The kind that only comes when a new chapter is about to begin.

A New Home in New England

The Boston area welcomed Mrs. Wattles with open arms (and chilly breezes). Everything felt new and thrilling: the tall trees, the winding streets, the historic buildings, and the promise of four distinct seasons. She had never seen snow before, never worn a winter hat, never stepped inside a centuries‑old home. Every moment felt like a discovery.

She quickly found comfort in her new surroundings. There were libraries filled with stories waiting to be read, parks perfect for picnics, and cozy corners ideal for coloring and word puzzles. And of course, she wasn’t alone; her dear friend, Baby Blossom made the journey with her, bringing warmth and familiarity to every new experience.

A Koala Ready for Adventure

Now that she’s settled in, Mrs. Wattles is eager to explore everything her new home has to offer. She dreams of visiting historic estates, wandering through museums, tasting new treats, and meeting new friends.

But more than anything, Mrs. Wattles is excited to share her adventures with you. Through her stories, photos, and cozy moments, she hopes to bring a little bit of wonder into your day. The kind that reminds you that the world is full of magic, even in the smallest places.

A New Chapter Begins

So here she is: Mrs. Wattles, the knitted koala with a heart full of courage and a suitcase full of dreams. From the eucalyptus groves of Australia to the historic charm of New England, her journey has only just begun. And she’s delighted to have you along for the ride.

Stay tuned for her adventures; big, small, and everything in between. There’s so much to explore, and Mrs. Wattles can’t wait to share every cozy moment.
