Birds sing their songs. Snakes hiss as people pass. Dogs speak to each other. Cats play around the trees. Apes seclude themselves in the corner. Monkeys throw their shit towards the dogs. Lizards run on the tree limbs with the cats chasing them. Lions observe their surroundings. Tigers scowl at the lions. All is well at the zoo.
Strange people surround me. Daredevils cross by each other. The bearded lady welcomes you to the freak show. The monkey man was interesting. Lobster man seemed lonely. Cat girl prowled around her aera. A clown treats you to a magic trick outside the freak show. A sword swallower places a flaming sword into his mouth. This one man circus thrives.
Bobby walks into the local diner. Johnny sits at a table for two. Francine joins him for a coffee. Tommy rests at the jukebox playing DJ for the afternoon. Harry cooks his newest recipe. Timmy stares at the picture of his new sweetheart. Kenny eyeballs his pie. Betty swirls around standing customers. Just another afternoon in the 50's.
A ukulele plays in the distance. A soft voice accompanies the rhythm. The wind brushes against my hair. A lonely woman sits and stares at the man playing and singing. A saxophone begins to play. A sun kissed woman dances as the melody engrosses her movements. The cocktail waitress serves the single man who's watching the dancer. The bartender mixes and shakes his newest concoction. The club is pumping tonight.
Early morning and a songbird is singing. Roosters crow to welcome the sun. The sun springs up over the palm trees. The palm trees sway with the wind. The wind breezes it's coolness upon the skin. Skin now holds goosebumps. Wake up, it's time for the dawn. There's always work to be done. Move forward with the day, it will not last forever.
Ophelia is gone. She took off with some guy she said was named John. Samson shaved bald after his hair was cut. Jack's beanstalk is chopped down. King Henry lost another wife. Red Riding Hood has grown into a beautiful lady. She seems to be interested in the king. Humpty Dumpty gathers his pieces. Prince Valiant chases the local whore. She apparently laughed and told him his dick was small. Prince Charming looks for Snow White in seedy bars. She became a big vodka/tonic drinker. All is good in this kingdom.
The wild night calls out to the nightowls. Stalkers stalk their prey in the moonlight. Bohemians arrive in the dark. Their caravan needs to rest. They break out art and play music. Someone's watching from the window. The festivities start for the evening. Music is loud, food and drink are abundant. Jugglers and clowns appear out of nowhere. This city is strange.
Lollipops. Flip flops. Kites flying in the sky. Running around the neighborhood. Riding bikes with friends. Playing war. Hide and go seek. Toys galore. The street lights come on. Time to go home. Family dinner. Fucking homework. TV time. The child inside wants to roar.
Glide down the street. Shimmy along the way. Glance at the passers by. Notice the faces. Smile at those faces. Brighten up their day. It's beautiful out. No worries. No drama. Peace abound. Nothing can upset you today.
Apples fall from the tree while the boys run around the horse cart. The dang elephant flees from the gentle mouse. Henry indicates there is a jackrabbit in the garden. There's a kangaroo boxing a longshoreman. Mama works with her needle and yarn. Sammy races to the octagon to challenge the prince. Queen Ann receives the stem of a rose without thorns. Jerry takes the umbrella and knocks down the vase in the window. A xylophone plays it's tune. Sammy yells at the monkeys. All in the zoo that resides in my mind.
